I can find a few different stories in this shot – the police, firemen and little girl at night in the rain suggest that something eventful has happened. The reality is that the girl is walking home from a street party, and the street is blocked off by police. I don’t know the whole story though – why the firemen?
This tree in Springton, South Australia, has been estimated to be up to 550 years old! In 1855 it became home to a German colonist, and after he married his wife the first 2 of their 16 children were born inside the tree. There’s some more detailed history here.
It’s amazing how much we take for granted now compared to then – and it’s worth thinking about how much we have now that we really don’t need.
